The club will be known as:
Southern Wake Aero Modeling Pilots Society (SWAMPS)
hereafter referred to as SWAMPS.
Authority and Operation:
S.W.A.M.P.S. is to be a wholly owned club of Ralph E. Tutor. It shall be operated
accordance with rules governing clubs in AMA, the Swamps constitution, and Swamps
Purpose of Operation:
The club shall be operated for the purpose of furthering the development of
and providing enjoyment in the sport of remote controlled model aircraft flying.
Open and Honorary membership is granted to individuals who agree with the objectives
of SWAMPS and pledge themselves to be governed by the rules and regulations
of the club. All members must have a current AMA membership card. These memberships
are granted yearly upon payment of dues as determined by the club president.
The various categories are defined below:
Open Member: over 18 years of age as of January 1st.
Honorary Member: a distinguished person designated by the club.
Termination of Membership:
- The rights of membership shall terminate on December 31st of each year.
The membership year is from January 1st through December 31st. Club dues are due
January 1st of each year.
- Reprehensible conduct or other abuse of club privileges may result in the
suspension of membership.
Members may have a flying guest, there is a $10 per day cover charge (effective 1/1/12),
and they must have a current AMA membership card with them.
Exception to these rules may be granted by the owner/president
with proper prior notification. He or she must have a current AMA membership
Amendments of the Constitution:
Amendments to the constitution shall be made as seen necessary by club president.
A notice of such amendments should be given in writing or verbally to each member
of the club.
Amendments to the Bylaws:
Amendments to the club bylaws may be made at any time as found necessary by
Club Executive Committee:
The club shall be administered by a committee consisting of:
- President - Ralph E. Tutor
- Vice-President - Patsy H. Tutor
- Secretary/Treasurer - Patsy H. Tutor
The duties and responsibilities of the aforementioned individuals are defined
Other possible executive committee members are: Field Maintenance Officer,
Safety Officer, Instructors.
Duties of Officers:
- The President shall:
- Have active and general management of the club.
- Ensure that the club operates according to the constitution and bylaws.
- The Secretary - Treasurer shall:
- Maintain an up-to-date file of club records.
- Complete all correspondence required for club activities.
- Maintain an up-to-date role of club and AMA membership.
- The Vice-President shall:
- In the absence of disability of the president perform the duties and
exercise the powers of the president.
S.W.A.M.P.S. R/C BYLAWS:
The club bylaws are rules that are intended to apply indefinitely until withdrawn
or amended by club president. The secretary shall maintain an up-to-date copy
of the bylaws.
The rights of membership shall expire on December 31st of each year. The
fee structure is as follows:
Open Members: as stated in the SWAMP bylaws
Honorary members: no fee.
There is no additional membership fee for children and spouses of open members.
All members and visitors shall abide by the SWAMPS safety code, which is a minor
revision of the AMA safety Code.
Anyone operating an aircraft at the club field must have a valid AMA membership
card and operate AMA approved equipment (narrow band, gold sticker.)
All members should be aware that AMA insurance coverage is secondary to any
applicable homeowner’s or renters liability insurance they may possess. It
is highly recommended that each member carry $1m dollars on their homeowners
or renter's policy.
